From learning about the interconnectedness of ecosystems to creating new technologies for society, an education in STEM gives you an appreciation for lifelong learning and a set of skills that will make you employable in numerous job markets.

At Otero College, our dedicated faculty guide students through hands on, project based activites both on and off campus, encouraging teamwork and curiosity while embracing the fundamentals of each discipline. Our faculty are here to equip students with the tools they need to succeed in the many fields related to STEM.

Arkansas Valley Regional Science Fair

The Arkansas Valley Regional Science Fair is held annually for students in grades K-12. This fair is an opportunity for students to showcase their love for science and technology by presenting their projects to a panel of judges. This is an excellent platform for students to share their ideas with the community and receive feedback on their projects.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Otero College is now the host of its very own Electric Vehicle charging stations! For anyone with a vehicle that can be plugged in – Battery Electric or Plug-In Hybrid – Otero College will be able to provide a location for those seeking to charge up their vehicle in the town of La Junta.

Archaeological Field Work

In 2019 members of Otero’s STEM faculty established a long term archaeological field research project for the region.
