The Otero Players present “Pride and Prejudice”

The Otero Players are hard at work rehearsing for their spring production of Pride and Prejudice. Directed by English & Theatre Professor Heather Pidcock-Reed, this adaptation by Kate Hamill brings a fresh, fast-paced, and comedic perspective to Jane Austen’s original novel.

This hilarious adaptation follows the outspoken and independent Lizzy Bennet, who has determined that she will never, despite the demands of society and her meddling mother. Her determination is put to the test when she meets the handsome and irritating Mr. Darcy, a wealthy gentleman who has grown tired of the parade of single young ladies being thrown into his path by their fortune-hunting mothers.

“I’m excited for the community to see this production. We have several newcomers to the Otero Players in the cast, as well as some returning students and alumni,” says director Heather Pidcock-Reed.

The cast is a mixture of Otero College students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Pride and Prejudice features Alyson Greenlund as Lizzy Bennet, Marina Servin as Mr. Darcy, Mackenzie King as Jane Bennet, Jansen Ediger as Charlotte Lucas, Joseph Eubank as Mr. Bingley, Sophia Lague as Lydia Bennet, Griffin Snyder as Mary Bennet/Miss De Bourgh, Joseph Six as Mr. Collins/Servant, Kyler Tuttle as Mr. Wickham/Servant, Larissa Lago as Miss Bingley/Lady Catherine, Heather Pidcock-Reed as Mrs. Bennet, and Tom Seaba as Mr. Bennet. Assisting backstage are Aunika Marquez, Reagan Mewbourn, and Jensyn Bane.

Pride and Prejudice will be performed in the Ed Stafford Theatre on April 24, 25, and 26 at 7:00 p.m. and on April 27 at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free.
