Otero’s Medical Laboratory Technician Students Participate in National Trivia Contest

Otero’s very own Medical Laboratory Technician program (MLT) is participating in a national trivia contest to showcase their knowledge of laboratory medicine. The contest is sponsored by the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science.

This event is not just a competition but also a unique opportunity for networking, learning, and fun. By participating, the students will have a chance to showcase their skills and connect with professionals in our field and gain valuable knowledge.

The preliminary competitions are on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. If Otero’s team wins the preliminary rounds, they’ll have the opportunity to attend the Joint Annual Meeting (JAM) in Pittsburgh, PA, from July 8 to July 12 to play in the in-person games.

Angela Tarrant, MLT Program Director said, “This is a great opportunity to showcase the excellent program at Otero College. It’s an exciting field and needs highly skilled people to do diagnostic laboratory work. If anyone is interested in the medical laboratory technician program, we are registering for fall classes now.”
