Otero HSI Fest, a Night Filled with Cultural Richness and Soccer Excitement, To Be Held on Sept. 15.

Otero College’s Student Life, and Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams are proud to host the inaugural Otero HSI Fest on Sept.15, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Tiger Stadium in La Junta. Otero College gained status as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in 2009. This event promises to immerse attendees in an evening of cultural richness as the community comes together to celebrate Hispanic heritage.

Food truck vendors will be serving mouthwatering Mexican delights, and a live mariachi band, performing from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., will add an authentic musical backdrop to the festivities, an experience that shouldn’t be missed. Attendees can also proudly display their Otero team spirit with creative face paintings. Families with young children are encouraged to join in the fun. A dedicated kid’s craft station and a piñata will await, ensuring smiles and laughter all around.

As the sun sets, the excitement continues with men’s and women’s soccer games, offering a chance to not only enjoy the matches, but also a unique opportunity to collect treasured t-shirts and autographed soccer balls. Kids will have the chance to participate in a special half-time 5v5 soccer game, making it an experience they will never forget.

According to Hailey Wold, Student Life Coordinator, “We’re incredibly excited to be organizing our inaugural HSI fest. Our goal is to highlight the incredible distinction of being an HSI and also provide educational insights into the culture. Additionally, we’re coupling this event with a special night to show our support for Otero’s women’s and men’s soccer teams as they take on Casper College at 5 and 7 p.m.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a joyful celebration that unites the community through cultural appreciation and the love of soccer. Mark your calendars for Sept. 15, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
