Otero Dance Presents Student Choreographers Showcase Nov. 5

Otero Dance will present their Student Choreographers Showcase on November 5 at 2 p.m. in the Ed Stafford Theatre at Otero College. Students featured in this show have taken an extra class where they created not only their dances, but the whole show. They have been in charge of the music selection, choreography, costumes, hair styles and even the order of the show.

“I love seeing them work through the creative process. This has been a great class to guide, and we have had a lot of fun. To see them come together as a team and create something unique is really special,” said Cynthia Fazio, instructor for the group. “I haven’t given any more than a piece of advice here or there when someone got stuck on an idea or needed a little encouragement. This showcase is truly the creation of these young ladies. I’m honored to have the opportunity to work with such talented, caring individuals and see them work together to create this art.”

“It has been several years since we held a Student Choreographers Showcase. So, when Cynthia was interested in taking on the class and this project with the girls, I was excited to let her have the reigns!” shared Jennifer Jackson, Studio Director. “It gives the kids a sense of accomplishment that they don’t always experience in other areas of their lives. Creating a dance piece is truly a work of ‘heart.’”

Admission to the showcase is by monetary or canned food donation that will be donated to La Junta Associated Charities. A great way to kick off the giving season and a great way for the girls to give back. Doing something they love, while helping others!
