Otero Celebrates National Agriculture Day
On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, the Nation celebrated the agriculture industry with National Ag Day. The Otero Agriculture Department and Ag Club postponed the celebration due to the weather conditions. The celebration has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
The day’s events will start with an all-day scavenger hunt for all things agriculture related on Otero campus. A free app, “GooseChase”, can be downloaded, users will then login with an email and password, find the search labeled “Find the Needle in the Haystack”, and get started! The afternoon will be filled with activities including ag themed minute-to-win-it games and petting zoo. These games include everything from dressing a goat, stacking hay, and making butter in a minute. You will not want to miss the chicks, goats, lambs, puppies, and pony either at the petting zoo.
These activities will be held at the McDivitt Hall courtyard and the lawn west of the Kiva on the Otero campus from 3:30-4:30 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center cafeteria there will be a huge game of trivia with questions all about agriculture. It will really test your knowledge about where your food and fiber originate, so study up!
Brooke Matthew, Otero Agriculture Faculty, stated “It will be a great day to help educate those on and off campus about the food we eat and clothes we wear every day.” There will be prizes at the end of the day for all events so enjoy the fresh air and come learn about Agriculture here at Otero College.
