Come Listen to the Otero College Community Jazz Ensemble Feb. 21
The Otero College Community Jazz Ensemble is quickly preparing for a special concert/rehearsal open to the public in partnership with the AIM Program on campus. The event will be Tues. Feb. 21, 2023 at 7 p.m. in the Ed Stafford Theatre, located on the campus of Otero College. Admission is free and open to all. Come join us for live music in a “working rehearsal” format. They are still working on their tunes but would love to share the joy of making music and the process that goes into preparing music with you, the members of our community.
The Jazz Ensemble is open to Otero students and community members. They perform a mix of traditional jazz tunes as well as new age. The community ensemble first formed in Spring 2022 and rehearse on Tuesday nights. They are always looking for new members to join them. If you play an instrument, they hope you will consider playing with them in the future.
Otero College now offers a music program that is both multi-faceted and comprehensive. The program is a participating member in the Colorado Department of Higher Education Statewide Transfer Articulation Agreement. Students can earn the Associate of Arts Degree with Designation in Music, which fully accredits the first two years of music study at the collegiate level. This degree is transferable to universities offering a bachelor’s degree in music, as well as visual and performing arts.
Students will study the theory, practicum, and history of music, in addition to various performance opportunities, all in an immersive and collaborative environment. Students will work one-on-one with degreed faculty.
