HPR 102 / HPR 1011 – CPR for Professionals 0.5 Credits
Meets the requirements for American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR or American Heart Association Basic Life Support for those who work in Emergency Services, Health Care and other professional areas. Material presented in this course is basic patient assessment, basic airway management, rescue breathing, AED use and CPR for infant, children and adult patients.

HPR 108 / HPR 1010 – Dietary Nutrition 1 Credit
Studies the basic nutritional principles in clinical practice in health care. The course will cover factors which influence the nutritional status of individuals, methods of nutritional assessment and support, and diet modification for specific disease states.

HPR 120 / HPR 2011 – ACLS 1 credit
Presents the required material for ACLS completion. It will cover arrhythmias, medications, and therapeutic modalities for life threatening arrhythmias, airway management, and other treatment modalities used in cardiac and respiratory arrest.

HRP 138 / HPR1038 Introduction to Medical Terminology 1 Credit  (replaced HRP 178)
Introduces the structure of medical terms with emphasis on using and combining the most common prefixes, roots, and suffixes. This course includes terms related to major body systems and provides accepted pronunciation of terms.

HPR 139 /1039 Medical Terminology – 2 Credits  (replaced HRP 178)
Discusses the structure of medical terms with emphasis on using and combining prefixes, roots, and suffixes. This class includes terms related to major body systems, oncology, and psychiatry, as well as clinical laboratory and diagnostic procedures and imaging, and provides accepted pronunciation and spelling of terms used in the healthcare setting.

HPR 140 / 1040 Comprehensive Medical Terminology -3 Credits (replaced HPR 178)
Provides an in-depth study of the structure of medical terms with emphasis on using and combining common prefixes, roots and suffixes. This course includes terms related to major body systems, oncology, and psychiatry as well as clinical laboratory and diagnostic procedures, and imaging, and provides accepted pronunciation of terms and relative use in the healthcare setting.                                  (Contact hours – 45)

HPR 180 / HPR 1080 – Internship 3 Credit
Provides students with the opportunity to supplement coursework with practical work experience related to their educational program. Students work under the immediate supervision of experienced personnel at the business location and with the direct guidance of the instructor.
