Online Orientation

Otero’s Online Orientation program is designed to provide new students with an introduction to Otero College procedures, academic programs, financial aid, and student affairs. It is strongly recommended for new students to take this Orientation program so you can get familiar with the campus and find out about all that Otero has to offer.

The Online Orientation contains video and text as well as short questionnaires for different sections. Students should expect the Online Orientation to take 30 minutes to an hour to complete.

How to log in to student portal or reset password

In Person Orientation for New & Returning Students

Monday, August 19, 2024 | 8:00 AM-3:30 PM

This orientation is for both new and returning students. There will be no classes held Monday morning or early afternoon. Evening classes scheduled for after 5 PM will still be held. Students should bring their own personal laptop, if they own one, for the day of Orientation. Additional laptops will be provided for those who do not have one.

8:00 – 8:30 AM: Check-In at McDivitt Gym

8:30 – 8:40 AM: Move to assigned classrooms

8:40 – 10:00 AM: Session 1 – Portal & Navigate

10:10 – 11:10 AM: Session 2 – D2L

11:10 – 12:00 PM: Session 3 – Financial Aid, Degree Works, Graduation application & transcripts

12:00 – 1:00 PM: Lunch

1:00 – 1:30 PM: Student group photo in front of the McDivitt Gym

1:30 – 3:30 PM: Session 4 will be held in the Learning Commons and will include book ordering, schedule reviews, campus tours, portal review and fun break out sessions with faculty.
