Transfer Agreements
As a member of the Colorado Community College System, Otero College participates in the numerous Credit transfer agreements that have been developed by the Colorado Community College System. In addition, Otero has developed a number of unique Articulation/Transfer Agreements with both in-state and out-of-state universities for specific programs of study.
If you are planning to transfer on to a 4-year university after graduating at Otero, we are here to help you with that process.
What is a Transfer Articulation Agreement?
A Statewide Transfer Articulation Agreement is an agreement between Colorado community colleges and universities. These agreements allow you to graduate from a community college with a 60-credit Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree with designation, such as an A.A. in Business; enroll with junior status at a university; and complete the bachelor’s degree in no more than an additional 60 credits (for a total of 120 credits). If you attend full-time (15 credits per semester) and follow the structured schedule, you can complete your bachelor’s degree in 4 years.
Transferring Your College Credits
Students may transfer 31 credits of completed general education course work (with a grade of C- or better in each course) to most public colleges in Colorado. Students who complete an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree are guaranteed to transfer 60 credit hours of courses required for those degrees to a four-year school, once they have been accepted for admission. Students who follow this plan should be able to finish a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree within another 60 credit hours.
Note: Some degrees may exceed the typical 120 credit hours required to successfully graduate.
