Baylee Stowers to be awarded the Ashley Rochelle Abel Memorial Scholarship
Otero College is proud to announce that Baylee Stowers is the recipient of the Ashley Rochelle Abel Memorial Scholarship for the 2025-2026 Academic Year.
This scholarship honors the memory of Ashley Rochelle Abel, an OJC student with a passion for nursing, who passed away in January 2014. Her mother, Jody Bracy, started the scholarship in her remembrance. This year’s Ashley Rochelle Abel Memorial scholarship recipient is Baylee Stowers who will receive $500 toward her educational costs.
“I am extremely honored to be the person that has been awarded the Ashley Rochelle Abel Memorial Scholarship,” says Stowers. “I have worked extremely hard to be where I am today, and to have received this scholarship, it feels like all my hard work has finally been recognized. This scholarship is in memory of Ashley Rochelle Abel, who was a dedicated young woman. From the stories I have heard about her she was kind, compassionate, and loved helping people. This is the kind of nurse that I want to become, and this scholarship is helping me pursue that future.”
